Carol Carey OAM Recognised for Four Decades of Service with ARC Medal and Roll of Honour Induction
The Australian Resuscitation Council is proud to announce that Carol Carey OAM has been awarded the prestigious Australian Resuscitation Council Medal and inducted onto the Roll of Honour.
This recognition celebrates Carol’s exceptional dedication to advancing resuscitation science, education, and practice over a career spanning 48 years.
Carol has been instrumental in shaping the Australian Resuscitation Council’s mission to foster and coordinate the practice and teaching of resuscitation, ensuring consistency and excellence in standards across Australia.
Her tenure with the Australian Resuscitation Council began in 1976 during her role at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. In 1989, she formally became the Australian Resuscitation Council Executive Officer, a role she held with distinction until her retirement in November 2024.
Additionally, Carol served as Convenor for 12 biannual “Spark of Life” conferences, which have provided a platform for national and international experts to share innovations in resuscitation science, education, and practice. She played a central role in managing these events, which have reached thousands of delegates and strengthened the Council’s reputation for excellence in resuscitation.
Carol’s dedicated service to the Australian Resuscitation Council has significantly improved resuscitation outcomes nationally. The Australian Resuscitation Council Medal and Roll of Honour induction are a fitting tribute to her remarkable contributions and enduring legacy.
